Students have been asking about the Reward Store, so here is some helpful information:
Students earn “Rat Bucks” to spend at the end of the two-week Read-A-Thon. These Rat Bucks come from the donations they receive—not from the number of minutes they read.
The fundraising company retains 15% of each student’s total donations, and those funds are what provide the items available in the Reward Store.
At this time, we have 44 students signed up to participate, but only 20 have received donations. As of now, those 20 students will be eligible to select items from the Reward Store. Some students currently have only a few dollars to spend, while others have around $60. Of course, these amounts may change before the fundraiser ends.
Parents will be responsible for helping their child choose rewards by logging into their child’s dashboard. I will not be managing the Reward Store selections.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Students who sign up for the Read-A-Thon can collect donations in two different ways.
First, donors may choose to give a flat donation, such as $25, regardless of how much the student reads.
Second, donors may choose to give based on the number of minutes the student reads during the two-week fundraiser. For example, a grandparent might pledge $0.25 per minute. If the student reads 100 minutes, the total donation would be $25. Others may choose a different amount, such as $0.10 per minute.
Donations are completely flexible and can be given in whatever way the supporter prefers.
Thank you for your support!
